Halloween Fire Bombing

On Halloween night just after 7:00 PM, someone threw a molotov cocktail near my house.  The resulting fire was contained to the outside of my fence, thanks to a quick response from Metro Fire company 110.

Eyewitnesses saw the bottle thrown from a blue sedan.

If you have any information on this event, please contact the Sacramento Sheriff's Department at 916.875.5115 immediately.

Other Crimes in Our Area

I have been hearing about an increased number of crimes lately in the Arden area.  There have been vehicle thefts and home burglaries in the last couple of weeks.

Remember to keep your car and home locked, keep valuables out of sight, and be keep an eye out for anything suspicious.  Write down descriptions of suspicious vehicles and people in your neighborhood.

Sunday's Event, Two Crimes Solved!

Yesterday at 2:30 pm, the same kid came back and vandalized my security camera.  I had a crystal-clear face of the perpetrator on one of the other cameras.

I followed the punk home to the 4300 block of Cottage Way and made contact with his father today, who IDed his son.  I confronted the kid when he got home from school.  Faced with the video of the two incidents, he admitted what he had done.  Luckily, his father is a good parent who cares about what his kids are doing.

I have turned his name and address over to the sheriff's department and I will also be requesting a restraining order, although I doubt he'll come near my property again.

Attempted Camera Theft

Now one of our neighborhood punks has taken an entirely new approach: he tried to steal one of my security cameras!  He was unable to free the camera, however.

The attempt happened on Monday the 27th at 6:35 PM.

Truck Break-In

On Friday and Sunday our neighborhood menace threatened (via comments on this site) to break into my truck. On Sunday night, he did just that.

He tried like hell to steal my stereo, destroying the dashboard in the process. He couldn't ever get the unit out of the truck. He took the remote for the stereo and a digital camera, a Sony CyberShot DSC-T1 like the one pictured below.

If anyone saw anything suspicious in the Del Paso Manor area that night, please contact me.

Sheriff's Department's Response

Neighbors, I'm happy to tell you that the Sheriff's Department's Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) task force is aware of the recent trouble in our area and is eager to catch the person or persons responsible.

One thing they have stressed is the importance of reporting every crime, no matter how small.  They recently caught someone with a house full of what they knew were stolen items, however few of them could be matched to a reported crime so they had a lot less to charge the guy with.

Also, if you have any evidence, they want it.  If you have trouble figuring out what to do with it, email me and I'll assist you.  If your car gets broken into, get it fingerprinted so they can tie all these crimes together.

Somebody Doesn't Like Attention

Here's of my signs being taken down today.  Clearly a different person, probably a friend of our thief.

Update - Leads and Sightings

*** If you're new to this site, please scroll down to see the videos of the suspect and pictures and descriptions of items stolen. ***

It was a very busy weekend for this website and our very helpful neighbors.  On Saturday, I put up more signs and talked to several more people in our area.

I want to thank all of you who have responded so far, with information or just encouragement.  Please, keep it coming!  I'm compiling everything I've gotten so far, including other similar crimes and sightings of the suspect in the video.

Also, I encourage all of my neighbors to report all crimes, no matter how small, to the Sheriff's Department.  You can report most petty crimes online here.

To report a crime by telephone, call the Sheriff's Department non-emergency number: 916-874-5115.  To report a crime in progress, call 911.

I received enough information over the weekend that I'll be contacting the Sheriff's Department today.  I don't want to say too much here, but I'm excited to give it all to law enforcement.  This recent story makes me very hopeful.  I'll let you all know how it goes!

This crime took place on Ione Street on Saturday, August 14th.

Recognize these items?

The drums that were stolen look like this:
Also, he dropped a can of pepper spray that I guess was probably stolen from one of the other cars in the neighborhood.  Here it is:
And here it is out of the case:

If you recognzie either of these items, please contact me via email at kingstv@gmail.com or by phone at (916) 585-4786.

Stolen from the same car the week before was a Massage Envy gift card.  It looks similiar to this one:

This is a hammer that was thrown through the window of my truck a couple of years ago.
I'm going to use it to post signs in the neighborhood to catch this punk!

Daytime Burglary

The local bandit came back, this time during daylight!  The whole crime is caught on video again.  Again, he came down Ione Street from the direction of Maryal.  Actually, from the neighbor's driveway.  He left southbound on Eastern Avenue.

He was barefoot.  He's tall, teenaged, with moppy brown hair wearing shorts and a flannel shirt.  This time, he stole a set of bongo drums from the trunk.

If you recognize this kid, please contact me via email (kingstv@gmail.com) or telephone (916.585.4786).  You can leave also leave a comment on this blog.  It can even be anonymous.

Night Visit

Our neighborhood thief paid us a visit late Saturday night (4:00am 8/14/10).  As you can see in the video, he looks around the car for a minute, unconcerned about the dome light and the fact he's right in our driveway.  We couldn't figure out anything that was stolen during this visit.
It looks like he's either wearing flip flops or is completely barefoot.
